Ardwell is a town in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . It is located around 15 kilometers southeast of Stranraer on the west coast of Luce Bay on the Rhins of Galloway . The A716 ( Lochans - Drummore ) connects Ardwell to the trunk road network at.
history
In the area around Ardwell there are Doon Castle , Auchness Castle and Killaser Castle, several defensive structures that prove the settlement of the region through different epochs. The mansion Ardwell House to the west was probably built in the late 17th century . Its gardens can be visited. During the same period, the Logan Windmill , a tower windmill that is now protected as a monument of the highest category A, was built. At the beginning of the 20th century, the neo-Gothic Ardwell Church was built.
