Aren't You Glad You're You? is a song by Jimmy Van Heusen (music) and Johnny Burke (lyrics), released in 1945.

Van Heusen and Burke wrote Aren't You Glad You're You? for the film The Bells of St. Mary’s (original title The Bells of St. Mary’s , 1945) directed by Leo McCarey , with Bing Crosby and Ingrid Bergman in the leading roles. Bing Crosby introduces the song in the film. Aren't You Glad You're You? received an Oscar nomination for Best Song in 1946 .

Bing Crosby's record of the song (released on Brunswick 03636) was coupled with George W. Meyer's song In Land Beginning Again, which was also from the film. Already in 1945 the film song was covered by Ernst Höllerhagen , Les Brown (with the band vocalist Doris Day ; Columbia 36875), Tommy Dorsey ( RCA Victor 20-1728); in the following years u. a. also George Olsen (Majestic), The Pied Pipers / Paul Weston (Capitol 225), Peggy Lee , in the 1950s also Gerry Mulligan / Chet Baker , June Christy , Joe Williams , Mel Tormé / George Shearing , Rebecca Kilgore (The Music of Jimmy Van Heusen) , Barbara Lea and John McNeil / Bill McHenry on the film song. The song was used in the 1970s on the children's program Sesame Street .
