The Arga Muora-Sisse Island ( Russian Остров Арга-Муора-Сисе , Ostrow Arga Muora-Sisse ; short Arga ) is located in the northeastern Siberian Lena Delta and has about 6400 (according to other sources 7000) km² after the Nile Delta , the second largest Delta island of a single river on earth. It belongs to the Russian region of Sakha and is located in the Laptev Sea .

The island forms the majority of the so-called Arara Complex in the western Lena Delta. The entire complex consists exclusively of up to 60 meters thick sand deposits of the Lena with small ice complex sediments; traversed by steep ice bands. Therefore, the islands of the complex are very flat and sandy; their geology distinguishes them from the rest of the delta islands. The origin of the pure sand sediments that make up the island (second terrace) has not yet been conclusively clarified. Arga-Muora-Sisse is also covered by hundreds of orientated thermal karst lakes . By aeolian sedimentation and erosion constantly changes its surface and form. The sea-facing shore is characterized by numerous bays. The height of the island is seven meters.

Arga-Muora-Sisse lies entirely in the Ust-Lenski-Sapowednik nature reserve , making up about two thirds of its area. Larger surrounding islands are called Dunai , Sanga-Tongoloch-Aryta , Sijen-Aryta , Chardyrgastach , Deppjurijes-Sisse , Siyen-Aryta ; the Chardang Sisse Island is in the south. Names of larger karst lakes on the island are Ulachan-Chargy , Mischka , Nrckchach , Arangastach and Nikolai , the largest lake in the Lena Delta . Extensive geological investigations were carried out here until 2002.
