Argos (King)
Argos ( Greek Ἄργος , male ) is the founder of the city of the same name in Greek mythology . His parents are Zeus and Niobe . He is therefore the grandson of Phoroneus .
With his wife Euadne , the daughter of Strymon and Neaira , he had the children Peiras , Epidauros , Kriasos and Ekbasos . Pausanias names Phorbas and Tiryns as further sons . Argos is said to have been the first to import grain from Libya and to have taught its cultivation. Kriasos succeeded Argos, who was buried in Argos. There was also a sacred grove here where the hero ktistes was worshiped.
