Ari Libsker
Ari Libsker ( Hebrew ארי ליבסקר; * 1972 in Haifa ) is an Israeli journalist and filmmaker .
In 1990 he and others founded the "free academy", a group of Israeli artists and intellectuals. Libsker works as co-editor of the magazines Maayan and Maarvon , Israel's only film magazines, which have been published by the “free academy” since 2004 . In his work as a journalist, Libsker also works as a film and business reporter for the Israeli financial magazine Firma .
One of his most famous works as a filmmaker is Circumcision (2004), which deals with the influence of circumcision on sexual life. Channel 2 wanted to censor the work first, but later aired it late on the night program. In 2006, The Home Poem was released , a film which describes three people - one of them Libsker's grandmother - and their relationship with their homeland. The title of the film is based on the book of the same name by the Israeli poet Aharon Shabtai .
In May 2006, Libsker presented Magic 1 , a video work on art and workers' rights, which was featured in the Doron exhibition , which pays tribute to Doron Sabag, at the Tel Aviv Minshar Gallery. In 2007 Libsker worked on a documentary called Pornography and the Holocaust , which reports on the phenomenon of the so-called Stalag booklet , which was widespread at the time of the Eichmann trial. The little booklets with the title Stalags , after which the film is originally named, were cheap magazines with a pornographic touch, in which sado-masochistic relationships between (German) guards and (Allied) prisoners in German POW camps ( main camps , Stalags for short) were described . The film tries to shed light on the background to this phenomenon.
