Aride ( English Aride Island , French Île Aride , German "dry island") is the northernmost granite island of the Seychelles and is located 10 km north of Praslin . The island has an area of ​​68 hectares (0.68 km²) and is a nature reserve . Aride is administered by the Island Conservation Society of Seychelles. The island belongs to the Grande Anse district on Praslin. The only residents are six employees of the nature reserve who live in small houses in the south of the island.

More than 1.25 million seabirds regularly breed on Aride, for example the world's largest colony of the slender beak noddi , the largest Seychellois population of the rose tern , and the world's largest population of the Audu shearwater . Also frigate birds found in large amounts, but do not breed. The Seychelles reed warbler was introduced by Cousin in 1988 , and its population is now the largest in the world, with over 2000 pairs. The Seychellenweber was also introduced in 2002 by cousin from, as well as the Magpie Robin from Fregate out. The paradise fruit pigeon and the Seychelles nectar bird naturally repopulated Aride. Rothmannia annae , a species of the red family , is endemic to Aride .
