Arild is a place ( Tatort ) in the southern Swedish province of Skåne län and the historical province of Skåne .
The place in the municipality of Höganäs is one of the best-preserved fishing villages in Sweden, located northeast of Höganäs . The Kullaberg nature reserve connects to the northwest side . The name goes back to the patron saint of the place, Saint Arild, who was locally venerated by the 15th century at the latest and whose body is said to have washed ashore here.
About 40 minutes' walk away on the cliff coast of Skälderviken is Nimis , a “sculpture performance” by an art professor from Copenhagen who built a “wooden city” from collected debris, and Ark , a stone book sculpture.
Arild is a former artist's place with well-known painters like Gustaf Rydberg , Gustaf Cederström , Fritz von Dardell , Olof Krumlinde , Isaac Grünewald , Natanael Beskow , Rickard Berg , Helene Gries-Danican and Herman Österlund . Many of the Skaagen painters stayed there in the former “Mor Cilla” inn, now a confirmation camp.
In Arild there is also a chapel from the Middle Ages and a Catholic chapel.
