The Arizona State Route 238 (short- AZ 238 ) is a state highway in the US state of Arizona , the West-East direction is in.
The State Route begins near Mobile and ends 20 miles north of Maricopa on Arizona State Route 347 . The AZ 238 passes the Estrella Sailport about halfway through the route . The road follows the line of the Southern Pacific Railroad between Maricopa and Gila Bend . The section west of AZ 238 is not officially part of the State Route System and is known as Maricopa County Road 238 .
The road was declared the Arizona State Route in 1986 and was intended to serve as a link to a planned waste incineration plant. Asphalting of the entire connection between Maricopa and Gila Brend was completed in the late 1990s.
