Arkona is a pagan and black metal band founded in 1993 in Syców , Poland .

history

Arkona was founded in 1993 in Syców, Poland, by guitarists Thomasz "Khorzon" Kubica and Pitzer, as well as by singer Messiah. After a few changes in the line-up, the group consists of founding member Khorzon, as well as bassist Dariusz "Drac" Rauer, second guitarist Nechrist and Krysztof "Zaala" Zalewski. Khorzon and Drac also act as singers in the band.

Arkona has released six full studio albums so far, some of which have been reissued. The 1999 self-distributed album Zeta Reticuli: A Tale About Hatred and Total Enslavement was reissued several times; 2001 through Eclipse Productions and 2017 with the Chinese label Pest Productions . The sixth studio album Lunaris , released in 2016 and produced by M. von Mgła , was released on the French label Debemur Morti . A 1997 compilation called An Eternal Curse of the Pagan Godz , which was previously released as a demo, on Folter Records .

ideology

The band is suspected of spreading right-wing extremist ideas. This suspicion is confirmed by the facts that the former band members Jerzy "Triumphator" Rataj and Namtar are or were active in other politically questionable bands. Triumphator played in the right-wing extremist bands Infernal War and Thunderbolt , while Namtar was active in mass murder.

Cover versions of the songs In the Glare of Burning Churches by the right-wing metal band Graveland , A Dark Dream by Veles and Triumf Nowej Ery by the Polish RAC band Honor - all of which can be found on the 2008 compilation Wszechzlodowacenie - also help to intensify suspicions. In addition , the compilation Raw Years 1993-95 was released on the Polish label Blutreinheit Productions , which is considered to be neo-Nazi and where NSBM groups such as Hate Forest and Kriegsmaschine occasionally released their albums .
