Mauritius Enk
Mauritius Enk (also Moritz Enk ; * 1538 ; † December 13, 1575 ) was 1564 and from 1571 to 1575 librarian of the St. Gallen monastery .
Enk came from Altstätten . He made his profession on November 30, 1559 . He has been attested as a subdeacon since 1560 and as a deacon and priest from 1562 . Around 1564 he studied philosophy in Dillingen and theology in Paris around 1571 . Back in St. Gallen, Abbot Otmar Kunz appointed him librarian. His knowledge of the French, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Syrian and Chaldean languages is evidence of his learning. He also wrote more than a dozen papers on music and philosophy. In addition to the library office, he was apparently also a novice master and pastor in Wil .
