Arley is located in northwest Alabama in the southern United States. Much of the urban area is within the William B. Bankhead National Forest . The city is also surrounded by Lewis Smith Lake .
Nearby places include Addison (7 km north), Double Springs (18 km northwest), Bremen (23 km southeast) and Good Hope (28 km east). The next larger city with 170,000 inhabitants is Huntsville, about 70 kilometers northeast .
