Armand Hug
Armand Hug (born December 6, 1910 in New Orleans , † March 19, 1977 ibid) was an American pianist specializing in Stride Piano and Dixieland Jazz .
Armand Hug spent most of his life in his hometown of New Orleans and began working as a professional musician at the age of 13. In 1926 he played with Harry Shields , in 1928 with the New Orleans Owls and 1936 with Sharkey Bonano , with which the first recordings were made. Hug was best known as a solo pianist ( "In a Mist" ), who appeared in clubs in the city and on local TV stations. In 1951 he made duo recordings with Ray Bauduc for Okeh Records ( Breezin Along ). In 1955 he recorded with Tony Parenti & His Downtown Boys. In his later years he performed at the Royal Orleans Hotel.
The pianist should not be confused with the Swiss racing driver of the same name (* 1915).
