Armand Marseille
Armand Marseille (* 1856 in Saint Petersburg ; † April 23, 1925 near Coburg ) was a German-Russian doll manufacturer .
Marseilles father was a builder at the court of the Russian tsar and came from a Huguenot family . The family left Russia around 1860 and after some time settled in Coburg, Thuringia. Armand Marseille there bought in 1884 , the doll factory of Mathias Lambert in Sonnenberg and took over in 1885 , the porcelain factory Lidberman & Wegscher in Köppelsdorf . In the following years, Marseille has become one of the world's largest suppliers of doll heads of bisque . Around 1000 heads were made per day. The heads were used by many well-known doll manufacturers of the time.
