Armenian International Airways ( Armenian Հայկական Միջազգային Ավիաուղիներ, Hajkakan Midschasgajin Aviaughiner) was an airline based in Yerevan . It offered international flights to and from Armenia .
history
The company was founded on June 12, 2002 . It mainly operated flights to Western Europe after the company took over routes from the former state monopoly Armenian Airlines . The main base was Yerevan International Airport . On January 1, 2005, the company was liquidated in favor of Armavia , which took over the routes. This made Armavia the largest air carrier in Armenia.
Incidents
- On May 5, 2006, among other things, an Airbus A320 burned out in a hangar at Brussels-Zaventem Airport , a Lockheed C-130 from the Belgian Air Force and three Airbus A320 from Hellas Jet , Armavia and Volare Airlines were also affected by the fire .
