Armor for Sleep was an alternative rock band from Maplewood and Teaneck , New Jersey , formed in 2001 . In October 2009 they announced the breakup of the band.
history
After singer and guitarist Ben broke up with his old band Random Task, where he played drums, he recorded a demo tape in a local studio for 100 US dollars, on which he played all the instruments himself. Because of this he founded together with Anthony (ex-bassist of the band Random Task), Nash and his cousin PJ Armor for Sleep after they had left their band Prevent Falls.
The band got a recording deal with Equal Vision Records , where they released their first two albums. In April 2006 they got a major contract with Sire Records ( Warner Bros. ).
In December 2006 the band went back into the studio to record a third and final album, which was released in 2007 under the title Smile for Them .
On October 28th, 2009 an official statement from front man Ben Jorgensen was released, which confirmed that the band will go their separate ways after a long period of inactivity.
