The Arnelliaceae are a moss family from the class of the Jungermanniopsida .
features
The representatives of the family have rounded, opposite, overlapping flank leaves. The lamina cells have delicate walls and are only slightly thickened in the corners. Each cell contains six to ten oil bodies that are more spherical. Marsupia are present and sunk into the substrate in the shape of a sac or tube.
Systematics
The Arnelliaceae family belongs to the order of the Lophocoleales and comprises 15 species. All three genres are also represented in Europe:
- Southbya with Mediterranean distribution
- Gongylanthus with Mediterranean distribution
- Arnellia with arctic-alpine distribution
