Thymus carnosus is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus carnosus is a small, cushion-forming shrub with heights of 20 to 40 mm, which forms upright to ascending, woody stems with tufts of deciduous leaves in their axils . These are 5 to 7 mm long and 1 to 2 mm wide. They are stalked, ovate-lanceolate, fleshy and hairless on top, tomentose on the underside. The leaf margin is rolled back and ciliate at the base.

The inflorescences are 1 to 3 cm in size. The bracts are egg-shaped and greenish. The calyx is 3 to 4 mm long, the calyx tube is bell-shaped, the upper teeth are as long as they are wide and not ciliate. The crown is whitish in color.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 56.

Occurrence

The species is distributed from southwest and southern Portugal to southwest Spain.
