Arnie Uhrlass
Arnold "Arnie" H. Uhrlass (born October 19, 1931 in Yonkers , New York ) is a retired American cyclist and speed skater .
Arnie Uhrlass, known as "The Governor", was originally a speed skater and initially practiced cycling for training purposes only. In 1960 he started speed skating at the Olympic Games in Squaw Valley over 5000 (14th place) and 10,000 meters (15th place). Three years later he also took part in the Speed Skating World Championships in Japan Karuizawa part.
As a cyclist, Uhrlass won the two US classics Tour of Somerville (1957) and the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic (1961). In 1964 he started in the team pursuit at the Summer Olympics . He was by nature Longsjo , who started as the Second Americans at the Olympic Games in summer in winter. In 1968 he ended his sporting career after breaking his leg in a fall on the ice.
In 1997, Arnie Uhrlass was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame .
