Arnim von Gleich (born September 18, 1949 in Ellwangen (Jagst) ) is a German biologist

Arnim von Gleich is professor at the artec Center for Sustainability Research at the University of Bremen , where he is responsible for the subject area "Technology Design and Development " in the Production Engineering Department (FB 4). Life

Arnim von Gleich studied biology and education at the University of Tübingen to become a teacher until 1980 . By 1982, he did a legal traineeship for teaching at grammar schools (secondary level II) in Bremen with the 2nd state examination. He then moved to the German Bundestag as a research assistant from 1983 to 1985 and was responsible for coordinating the Environment department of the Bundestag parliamentary group for the 'Greens' parliamentary group.

In 1988 the doctorate to Dr. phil. in Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Hanover with the thesis "On the scientific handling of nature - a research-political investigation with considerations on reform goals and approaches". Since 2003 he has been professor for the subject area "Technology Design and Development" in the Faculty of Production Technology (FB 4) at the university. Bremen. Arnim von Gleich is the chairman of the supervisory board of Auro Pflanzenchemie AG, Braunschweig.

Advisory and research activities

As a co-founder and long-term research assistant at the Institute for Ecological Economic Research (IÖW), he was also a member of the board of this institution from Gleich to 1995. From 1995 to 1998 he was a member of the study commission "Protection of people and the environment - goals and framework conditions for sustainable, future-oriented development" of the German Bundestag. In 2000, Arnim von Gleich was appointed to the Federal Government's Risk Commission for the "reorganization of the procedures and structures for risk assessment and standard setting in health environmental protection in the Federal Republic of Germany". In the NanoKommission he was head of working group 2 "Risks and Security Research". In addition, von Gleich is the author of numerous reports, for example for the Office for Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag .
