Arno Türklitz (born February 12, 1911 in Brandenburg an der Havel ; † 1993 ) was a German furniture dealer and patron .

Career

Türklitz was born as the son of the carpenter and furniture dealer Emil Türklitz. His father ran the family furniture store in Brandenburg an der Havel, which was also represented with a branch in Berlin. In 1935 he married Gertraud Hübner, only daughter of the Berlin furniture dealer Karl Hübner. After his death, Arno Türklitz took over the management of Möbel Hübner . In the economically difficult period after the end of the Second World War, he began to accept bank certificates from assets that could not be paid out as a deposit when buying furniture. The number of buyers then skyrocketed. In the 1960s he expanded the range of his furniture store to include a "Scandinavian department". With the takeover of the furniture stores Neue Wohnkultur and Möbel-Kunst, he opened up new target groups. After his death in 1993, his son Achim took over the business.

To promote culture and science in Berlin, he often donated not inconsiderable sums to the Technical University of Berlin . In 1990 he donated an annual prize of DM 5000 from Möbel Hübner for excellent diploma theses in the subject of architecture.
