Arnold Albrecht

Arnold Albrecht (born October 9, 1950 in Bornhagen ) was works council chairman of the Siemens Energy generator factory in Erfurt from 1990 to 2010 . He is holder of the Federal Cross of Merit and the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia .

Life

In 1973 he studied agricultural technology in Nordhausen at the engineering school for agricultural technology , in 1978 in Rostock and worked in various management positions. Among other things, he ran an engineering office and was the specialist director for rationalization and technology. In 1986 he left the SED . In 1989 he took part in the peaceful turnaround in what was then the GDR and founded the reform working group . In November 1989 he was elected the last BGL chairman of his plant and reformed the employee representation. In the spring of 1990 he was elected as chairman of the works council and held this office for five terms. He ended his active working life on March 31, 2010 and retired as the longest-serving works council chairman at Siemens AG. In 1990 he was a member of the advisory board of VK AG (Vereinigte Kraftwerke AG - today Vattenfall). He was a member of the supervisory board of Siemens Gesellschaft SEI, which was founded in 1991.

In 1993 he initiated the establishment of a company pensioners' association and was one of its co-founders. From 1993 to 1998 he was a member of the nationwide “Working Group of Works Councils for Energy” and was an honorary labor judge at the Erfurt Labor Court for twelve years. From 2009 to 2011 he was an appointed citizen in the Committee for Economics and Investments of the state capital Erfurt.

On July 17, 2001, he was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his struggle to preserve the work of Federal President Johannes Rau . For his above-average voluntary commitment and his services to the Free State of Thuringia, he was honored with the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia on June 9, 2009 .
