Arnold Kahler

Arnold Kahler is a former German canoeist . He was multiple GDR champion.

Life

Together with Wilfried Bust came Kahler 1949 to at the same in Fermersleben local canoe Department of Sports Association of Buckau Wolf , the later BSG Stahl Magdeburg South or BSG Motor Southeast Magdeburg and brought the first run in the club traveling Canadians with. On August 23, 1950, Kahler and Bust achieved their first significant success, in which they defeated the former GDR champions Musche and Eschstedt in the two-man Canadian over 1,000 meters in the SV Lokomotive canoe regatta . During the GDR championship in Leipzig on July 15, 1951, the team Kahler and Bust then won the titles over 1,000 and 10,000 meters in two-man Canadians. Various other successes followed, including the win over 1,000 meters at the state championships in Saxony-Anhalt . The GDR championships in 1952 were also a success. Together with Bust and Udo Cohrs , Kahler took part in a course in Jena - Lobeda for canoe slalom in 1954 , as the GDR Canoe Association wanted to become more active in this discipline. During a canoe slalom competition between the GDR and Czechoslovakia in Kala, Kahler and Bust capsized in the first run. In the absence of suitable equipment, they started with an open boat. Also in 1954, after a previous training camp in Berlin , Kahlert and Bust took part in an international canoe regatta in Romania . In 1957, Kahler was a member of the BSG's ten-man Canadian , who won the 1,000-meter championship. National successes remained after that. In 1958 he won the VII Magdeburg canoe regatta together with Bust.
