Arnold Verhoeven

Arnold Verhoeven (born October 21, 1905 in Dinslaken ; † August 2, 1998 ) was a member of the German Bundestag for one electoral term from October 17, 1961 to October 17, 1965 . He was elected for the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) through a direct mandate in North Rhine-Westphalia . He was a member of the KAV Rheno-Danubia Innsbruck in the ÖCV since 1929 .

Life

Verhoeven graduated from a humanistic grammar school and then studied philosophy, German and history. After a few courses in newspaper science and law, he first worked as a freelance journalist in Vienna. However, in 1938 he was not admitted by the Reichsschrifttumskammer and was expelled from Austria. He then worked for a year at the state employment office in Cologne as a career advisor, where he was dismissed in 1939 at the request of the Essen district administration. From 1940 he then worked for Thyssen in Duisburg. From 1941 until 1944 he took part in the Second World War. After the war he became an authorized representative and from 1950 he worked for the Walsum mining company in Dinslaken. During this time he was also chairman of the supervisory board of Dinslakener Kreiswohnbau GmbH from 1946 to 1952.

After the Second World War, Verhoeven was one of the founding members of the CDU, whose district chairman in the Dinslaken district he was from 1945 to 1949. He was later appointed honorary chairman of the district of Dinslaken. In 1946 he was elected a member of the district council and became a council member in Dinslaken. From 1946 to 1948 and again from 1949 to 1952 he was district administrator and from 1952 to 1961 deputy district administrator of the Dinslaken district .

In the 1961 Bundestag election , Verhoeven was elected to the German Bundestag as a representative of the Rees - Dinslaken constituency, to which he belonged for an electoral term until 1965. In parliament he was a full member of the Committee on Petitions until November 1963 and in the Committee on Local Policy and Social Welfare until January 1965. He was also a member of the burden sharing and cultural policy committees . In the election to the fifth Bundestag he was not re-elected and therefore left in 1965.
