Arris International (formerly Antec Corporation ) is a modem and set-top box manufacturer based in London with headquarters in Suwanee , Georgia . The company's customers are telecommunications companies and cable network operators such as Comcast , Time Warner Cable and Vodafone . In Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTS) and Converged Cable Access Platforms (CCAP), Arris claims to be the world market leader.

The company's shares are listed on NASDAQ .

history

Today's Arris Group was founded in 1991 as Antec Corporation, which went public in 1993. In 1995 Antec founded the joint venture Arris Interactive with Nortel Networks . In 2000, Antec completely took over the Arris Interactive joint venture and renamed itself the Arris Group.

In 2002 Arris acquired Cadant, a provider of cable modem termination systems .

At the end of 2007, C-Cor, a supplier of components for cable network operators, was taken over.

September 1, 2009 Arris took over the video editing of EG Technology, Inc. In the same year undertook much of the set-top box manufacturer Digeo, Inc (among other things, the Moxi PVR produced) for 20 million US dollars .

On October 11, 2011, Arris acquired BigBand Networks, a provider of video editing systems for cable operators, for $ 172 million .

On December 19, 2012, Arris announced that it would take over the Motorola Home division (including modems and set-top boxes) from Motorola Mobility for $ 2.2 billion. The acquisition was completed on April 17, 2013.

On April 22, 2015, the Arris Group announced that it would take over the British set-top box manufacturer Pace for 2.1 billion US dollars and relocate its headquarters to the UK . The newly created company will retain the name Arris, will employ 8,500 people worldwide and generate annual sales of US $ 8 billion. The previous Arris shareholders will hold 76 percent of the merged company, the Pace shareholders the remaining 24 percent. The transaction closed on January 5, 2016. The British set-top box manufacturer has been producing a version of the Horizon Box (DMC7002KLG) for the international media group Liberty Global since 2016 .

On February 22, 2017, Arris took over Brocade , which had taken over WLAN specialist Ruckus a few months earlier .
