Artūras Leita (born May 2, 1969 in Vaivadiškiai , Anykščiai district ) is a Lithuanian colonel ret. D. and former commander of the Lithuanian Air Force (2006–2011).

Life

education

Artūras Leita graduated from the Kavarskas Middle School . He then attended the Air Force College in Syzran (Russia) and later the BALTDEFCOL , a military college in Tartu (Estonia).

Military career

In 1992 Artūras Leita became a pilot in the Lithuanian Air Force. Within nine years he was promoted to commander of the 2nd Air Force Base and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 2005 . He was later appointed deputy commander of the Lithuanian Air Force and promoted to colonel.

Since January 20, 2006 Artūras Leita was the commander of the Lithuanian Air Force. In this position, he was appointed on November 23, 2007 on duty brigadier general. In 2011 he was replaced as Chief of the Air Force by Edvardas Mažeikis , who returned to this post after his first term (2000-2004). Leita retired from active military service in November 2013.

Leita has a total of around 1,600 hours of flight experience. He collected these on missions with the Antonov An-2 and the Mil Mi-2 and Mil Mi-8 helicopters .
