Kind Babbitt
Art Babbitt , actually Arthur Harold Babitsky , (born October 8, 1907 in Omaha , Nebraska , † March 4, 1992 in Los Angeles ) was an American animator who worked for the Walt Disney Company . He is the inventor of Goofy .
Live and act
Babbitt began his first job as an animator with Medical Films and Commercials in 1924 . Five years later he moved to Terrytoons in New Rochelle and in 1932 to Walt Disney Studios in Los Angeles. There he received internal training from Donald W. Graham. In addition to developing the character Goofy , he was one of Donald Duck's first cartoonists and worked on several Mickey Mouse films. He also assumed responsibility for characters in the films Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ( Evil Queen ), Pinocchio ( Geppetto ) and Dumbo the Flying Elephant ( Stork ). As a result of his leading involvement in an employee strike, he came into conflict with his employer Disney from 1941 and finally resigned in 1947. He then worked for various companies as a draftsman and director of animated films, his last job was in London with Richard Williams. In 1974 Babbitt was honored with the Winsor McCay Award as part of the Annie Awards for Lifetime Achievement .
