Art Popular is a Brazilian pagoda group from São Paulo .

Career

Art Popular was founded in the northern part of São Paulo in the early 1990s. Art Popular played in bars and music bars around town for eight years until they released their first LP in 1993, which sold 170,000 copies. After Art Popular signed a record deal with EMI , they recorded the second CD "Nova Era" in 1995, with the hits "Valeu Demais", "Bom-Bocado" and "Iraê", which was awarded the gold and silver records. In their fourth work, Sambapopbrasil (sales: 800,000) from 1997, they increasingly processed electronic influences. The resulting song "No paraíso, Eu e você" can be attributed to the Música Sertaneja . They recorded Sambapopbrasil 2 with the US singers Take 6 and Billy Paul. At the Acústico MTV 200 they appeared together with Jorge Ben Jor and Ebony Vox. In 2003 there was an incident at the Santos Dumont airport in Rio de Janeiro with the group LS Jack, who disparaged the musicians from São Paulo as “blacks” and “Paulistas”, which ended in a fight with several injured.
