During an excavation campaign by the Upper Austrian State Museums and the University of Salzburg, no finds were made that were older than the 17th and 19th centuries. The facility is likely to have been built in the course of the War of the Spanish Succession between 1702 and 1706, so the name Keltenschanze cannot be proven.
