Parts of the choir and tower have been preserved from the originally single-nave Gothic church building. From 1649 onwards it was gradually converted to baroque style. From 1774 to 1779, the nave and a transept were rebuilt with the master builder Franz Anton Kirchgrabner from Munich. The vault frescos and furnishings were restored in 1953. The early classicistic high altar shows an altar sheet by Franz Ignaz Oefele (1780) and carries the remarkable statues Peter and Paul by Thomas Schwanthaler (1676) from the old high altar .
