history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1379. Parts of the choir and tower have been preserved from the originally single-nave Gothic church building. From 1649 onwards it was gradually converted to baroque style. From 1774 to 1779, the nave and a transept were rebuilt with the master builder Franz Anton Kirchgrabner from Munich. The vault frescos and furnishings were restored in 1953.

architecture

The three-aisled, three-bay basilica nave has a barrel vaulted central nave and side aisles with flat domes. The mighty transept has a square, flat, dome -arched crossing and barrel-vaulted cross arms with semicircular cones . The two-bay, barrel-vaulted choir closes with a five -eighth closure . The interior of the church shows Corinthian pilasters. The built-in eight-sided Gothic west tower has a pointed helmet. Gothic vaults are preserved in the old sacristy. Further Gothic vaults and Gothic windows have been preserved in the extensions under the roof. The new sacristy has a flat ceiling with stucco by Johann Michael Vierthaler (around 1710), as does the stucco in the room above. The frescoes in the vaults of the nave and choir were painted by Johann Nepomuk della Croce (1780), in the central nave entry into Noah's Ark , in the left aisle the Sermon on the Mount , Good Samaritan , Jakobsbrunnen , in the right aisle the healing of a man born blind , daughter of Jairus , Christ writes down on the ground , in the crossing the Queen of Sheba , in the cross arms a brazen serpent , flight from Sodom , in the choir of the Assumption of the Virgin .

Furnishing

The early classicistic high altar shows an altar sheet by Franz Ignaz Oefele (1780) and carries the remarkable statues Peter and Paul by Thomas Schwanthaler (1676) from the old high altar .
