The originally Gothic building was demolished between 1724 and 1735 and replaced by a new Baroque building, built by Johann Baptist Canta . The church burned down in 1775, but was soon rebuilt with the help of the master builder Franz Anton Glonner (completed in 1779). In 1891 the frescoes were renovated by Carl Gesch . The last interior restoration took place in 1991/92.

A pilgrimage has been documented here since the middle of the 14th century . In 1403 the Gothic church, built by the builders Konrad and Oswald Pürkhel, was inaugurated. A baroque transformation took place after 1670. In 1725 the stucco was put on in the early rococo style and the ceiling frescoes were created. In 1883 the tower was increased to its present size. Interior renovations took place in 1968–1972 and 1980. The war dead from the Uttendorf hospital are buried in the cemetery. In 1951 a memorial was created in the form of a Gothic cemetery lamp.

In 1848 a footpath with the five stations of the Sorrowful Rosary to the castle church was laid out; the pictures come from the Mauerkirchen painter Anton Scherfler , they were renewed in 1951. The path was renovated in 2009.

In 1298 this chapel was consecrated as part of Uttendorf Castle by Passau Bishop Bernhard von Prambach . The successor building was built in 1389 in honor of the Immaculate Conception. In 1713 the chapel was renewed. The castle was demolished in 1761. The chapel tower was renewed in 1877 and the church was re-consecrated by the Bishop of Linz, Franz Rudigier . The last general renovation took place in 2009.

The first chapel located here was consecrated in 1382 by Passau Auxiliary Bishop Simon von Castoria . The church was expanded in 1652 and again from 1770 to 1780 under the master builder Franz Anton Glonner. In 1835 the tower and part of the vault collapsed due to a market fire. During the reconstruction, the vault was unadorned. Interior renovations took place in 1950 and 1985, exterior renovations in 1965/66 and 1990.

The outside of the vicarage was renovated in 2003 and visually aligned with the parish center. On July 27, 2003, the building was inaugurated by the Linz bishop Maximilian Aichern .

From the year 2000 the former elementary school was converted into a parish center. Premises were created for various Catholic organizations, for a parish hall and also for a public library.
