Arte Moris ("Living Art" in Tetum ) is the first art school, cultural center and artists' association in East Timor . It has its center in the former National Museum in Comoro , in the state capital Dili .

Arte Moris was founded in February 2003 after the violent occupation by Indonesia . “Its main aim should be art as a building block in the psychological and social reconstruction of a country devastated by violence, with a special emphasis on helping its young citizens”. The idea for this project came from the Swiss Gabriela and Luca Gansser († 2019).

Arte Moris offers local art courses for Timorese, promotes advanced students and organizes the sale of art in their gallery and two hotels in Dili. Arte Moris also works with the professional drama company Bibi Bulak ("Crazy Goat"). In Baucau there is the Afalyca Community Arts Center (ACAC), which works according to the same model.

The art created at Arte Moris is very diverse in style, but often surrealistic and shows cultural aspects from the different regions of the country.

The patron of Arte Moris is the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and politician José Ramos-Horta .
