Artful Dodger (also The Artful Dodger ) is a British R & B - and UK garage - band from Southampton , through their 2-Step was known -Hits and Craig David career gave a boost by the vocal part of their hit Re-Rewind took over in December 1999.

history

The band originally consisted of Mark Hill and Pete Devereux, but Devereux left before the release of the single TwentyFourSeven . Hill continued to produce on it and under the name Artful Dodger. The project, which then consisted of Mark Hill and MC Alistair, was joined by producer and DJ Dave Low. Artists like Craig David, Melanie Blatt ( All Saints ) and Romina Johnson were able to be won over for the singing part . Many of the band's songs can be found on compilations of the UK garage CD series Pure Garage , mixed by DJ EZ.

The name of the band comes from a character from Charles Dickens ' novel Oliver Twist , Jack Dawkins, who is also called The Artful Dodger in the original .
