Arthur Blake (middle distance runner)

Arthur Blake ( Arthur Charles "Skip" Blake ; born January 26, 1872 in Boston , † October 23, 1944 ibid) was a participant in the first Summer Olympics in Athens in 1896 .

The American student at Harvard University arrived with a best time in the mile run of 4: 39.8 minutes, which he set up in the hall in 1895. At the Olympic Games he took second place over 1500 m in 4: 34.0 min. The middle-distance runner Blake was also the only American to take part in the marathon , but he got out before the finish (approx. 23-30 km; different information).
