Arthur Burkhardt (Manager)

Arthur Burkhardt (born March 10, 1905 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † October 12, 1990 in Stuttgart ) was a German engineer and manager .

Life

Burkhardt studied natural sciences at the Technical University of Stuttgart and received his doctorate in 1928 as Dr.-Ing. He initially worked as an assistant at the university. From 1929 to 1935 he was a research assistant at the metal company in Frankfurt am Main, where he researched in the field of non-ferrous metals . Between 1935 and 1941 he was the manager of the mining company Georg von Giesche's heirs in Berlin. During this time he developed several new materials . In 1941 he moved to the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) in Geislingen / Steige as a technical board member , where he became chairman of the board in 1950. In addition, he was chairman of the supervisory board of Bumix-Mischlicht GmbH and a member of the supervisory board of several companies.

He published extensively in the metallurgical field. The Arthur Burkhardt Foundation , which he set up , has been awarding an award named after him for promoting science since 1984 .
