Arthur Dannenberg

Arthur Albert Friedrich Dannenberg (born August 15, 1865 in Berlin , † February 21, 1946 in Magdeburg ) was a German geologist .

Dannenberg studied at the University of Berlin , the Bergakademie Berlin and the TH Aachen and received his doctorate from the University of Strasbourg in 1893 . In 1895 he completed his habilitation in Aachen, where he was a private lecturer and from 1907 a full professor of geology. In 1933 he retired.

He dealt with the geology of coal deposits, about which he wrote a textbook.

In August 1912 he was one of the 34 founding members of the Paleontological Society .

His father was the numismatist Hermann Dannenberg .
