Arthur Kopp (librarian)

Arthur Kopp (pseudonyms: P. Raphael Turko , Stieglitz ) (born December 19, 1860 in Insterburg , † January 10, 1918 in Lübeck ) was a German librarian , folklorist and song researcher.

Life

From 1878 Kopp studied linguistics , classical and German philology in Königsberg . During his studies in 1879 he became a member of the Teutonia Königsberg fraternity . In 1883 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . From 1884 to 1885 he worked as a teacher in Königsberg and then worked as a librarian; 1886 at the University Library Königsberg , from 1887 to 1909 at the University Library Berlin . There he began in 1888 as a research assistant and assistant, became a librarian in 1894 and received the title of professor in 1905 . From 1909 to 1914 he worked at the University Library of Marburg as senior librarian. In 1914 he was retired due to illness. In 1917 he moved to Lübeck, from where his wife (she was the sister of Karl Theodor Gaedertz ) came.

From 1911/12 to 1918 he was a member of the Society for Folklore .
