history

Artificial Peace was founded in Bethesda in late 1981. They consisted of Pete Murray (ex- Red C ) and former Assault & Battery band members Steve Polcari, Rob Moss and Mike Manos. The band played fast, aggressive hardcore punk and made a name for themselves by performing in and around DC. In November 1981, the band recorded 17 songs in Inner Ear Studios by Don Zientara on. These were produced by Ian MacKaye . Three of the songs were for the compilation Flex Your Head by Dischord Records used. Due to the difficult financial situation, the other 14 songs could not be used at first.

Another session took place in mid-1982, this time at CAB Studios in Rockville , Maryland . The five songs were used on a Split-7 " together with Exiled and were the first release of the Fountain of Youth label . Shortly afterwards, the band split up due to personal problems with bassist Rob Moss. Murray, Polcari and Manos then formed the Band Marginal Man .

In 1990 the German hardcore punk label Lost & Found released a 7 "called Assault and Battery , which contained ten songs that were probably written in May 1981 under the band name Assault & Battery. An LP compilation called Outside Looking In was also released . which included all known recordings. In 2010 Dischord Records released all 17 songs of the session in the Inner Ear Studios on CD and LP.
