Artjom Wladimirowitsch Makarenko ( Russian Артём Владимирович Макаренко , English transcription Artem Vladimirovich Makarenko ; born April 23, 1997 ) is a Russian decathlete who also competes in the 110-meter hurdles .

Career

Artjom Makarenko gained his first experience at international championships in 2015 when he had to end his decathlon prematurely after eight competitions at the Junior European Championships in Eskilstuna . In 2019 he played two decathlons, one at the Hypomeeting in Götzis and the other at the U23 European Championships in Gävle , but could not finish either. At the U23 European Championships, however, he also started in the 110-meter hurdles and finished fourth there in 13.65 s. He had previously taken part in the hurdles sprint at the European Games in Minsk , where he was fifth in 13.71 s.

In 2018 Makarenko became Russian champion in the decathlon and in 2018 and 2020 indoor champion in the heptathlon.
