Artur Rasizadə (2009)

Artur Tahir oğlu Rasizadə (alternative Azerbaijani spelling Artur Tahir oğlu Rasizadä ; born February 26, 1935 in Gəncə , Azerbaijani SSR ) is an Azerbaijani politician . From November 4, 2003 to April 21, 2018 he was Prime Minister of Azerbaijan . Rasizadə is a member of the presidential party Yeni Azərbaycan ( Eng . New Azerbaijan ).

He was Prime Minister of his country from 1996 to 2003, but resigned for health reasons. He returned to the office just three months later.

Career

After graduating from the Institute for Labor Research and the Institute for Petroleum Engineering AzINMAS, he began in 1957 as an engineer, later chief engineer, project manager and department head. Eventually he worked as the assistant director for scientific affairs.

From 1973 to 1975 he was with the "Azneftsənayemas" union and from 1975 to 1977 first deputy head of the EIB. After all, Rasizadə was director of the Petroleum Engineering Research Institute AzINMAS for a year.

From 1978 to 1981 he was deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission, then until 1986 in the Communist Party of Azerbaijan in the mechanical engineering department. From 1986 to 1992, Rasizadə was First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan (then First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan). After the political upheaval at the beginning of the 1990s and the independence of Azerbaijan, he initially worked as a consultant for economic reforms.

In 1996 he was appointed Economic Advisor to the President. In May 1996, Rasizad wurde became First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in the same year became Prime Minister himself. He has held this office to this day, interrupted from August to November 2003, when he was only First Deputy Prime Minister for health reasons.
