Artur Stollé

Artur Stollé (born November 19, 1872 in Cologne-Mülheim , † 1934 in Koblenz ) was a German geologist and mountain assessor.

Life

Stollé initially studied at the Kaiser Wilhelms University of Strasbourg and the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . He was active in the Corps Suevia Strasbourg (1893) and in the Corps Suevia Freiburg (1895). As an inactive , he moved to the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , the Bergakademie Berlin and the Technical University of Aachen . He then entered the Prussian civil service and became a mountain trainee in 1899 and a mountain assessor in 1905. In 1906/07 he went on a year and a half study trip to America , Asia and Africa . In 1908/09 Artur Stollé was a member of the German-English New Guinea border expedition , the expedition leader was the zoologist and anthropologist Leonhard Schultze . Stollé took part as a geological and mining expert. In 1910 he was assigned to the German-Dutch New Guinea border expedition , which was also under the direction of Leonhard Schultze. In 1912/13 he took over the leadership of the Empress Augusta River Expedition to explore the Sepik . It was financed and organized by the Reich Colonial Office , the Prussian Ministry of Spiritual, Educational and Medical Affairs (which also included the Berlin museums) and the German Colonial Society . Characterized as a secret mountain ridge , he died at the age of 62.
