Arturo Torres Carrasco (born October 20, 1906 in Coronel , Chile , † April 20, 1987 in Santiago de Chile , Chile) was a Chilean football player and coach.
Known for his technique, midfielder Arturo "Carecacho" Torres, who is described as an intelligent leader, began his career with the provincial clubs Unión Maestranza de Lirquén and The Comercial de Talcahuano . In 1928 he joined Everton de Viña del Mar , but in the same year he moved on to CSD Colo-Colo in the capital Santiago de Chile , where he stayed until 1932 and won the Liga Central de Football de Santiago in 1929 and 1930 respectively .
In 1928 he took part in the 1928 Olympic Games with Chile . At the first soccer world championship in 1930 he was a regular player in the team trained by Hungary György Orth , which defeated Mexico and France, but after a defeat against Argentina still did not make it through the preliminary round. He also took part in the 1935 South American Championship .
In 1932 he moved on to Audax Italiano where he went on the Three America Tour from January to October 1933 , a trip through North, Central and South America. Of the 68 games completed during the tour, Audax won 48 and suffered only 9 defeats. With the onset of professionalism in Chile, at the end of 1933 he moved to CD Magallanes , another capital club, with which he won the first three championships of the new league as player-coach until 1935 and remained undefeated in 1934.
From 1936 to 1937 he was in the same position again at Colo-Colo, where he led the club in front of Magallanes undefeated to its first championship title in 1937. His debut in this phase of his club membership, in which he completed 19 competitive games, he celebrated on May 24, 1936 against Unión Española . Overall, he belonged to Colo-Colo in four amateur seasons and two professional rounds. In 1944 he was in the first half of the season, as the successor to Ferenc Plattkó , coach of the Colo-Colo team, which won the fourth championship in the club's history that year. After a good start to the season, the newly formed team suffered a series of failures and he was replaced by Luis Tirado .
