Arvid Aarsnes

Arvid Kjell Aarsnes (also: Årsnes ; born September 18, 1920 in Norway ; † September 18, 2012 ) was a Norwegian organist , pianist , conductor , composer and arranger .

Life

Arvid Aarsnes studied at the Music Conservatory in Oslo and passed the organist exam in 1940. He was organist in the church of Voss near Bergen . From 1952 he was conductor of the Fossegrimen Orchestra in Voss. In 1953, the orchestra played under his leadership, the third piano concerto of Ludwig van Beethoven with the Norwegian pianist Ingebjørg Gresvik (1908-2000) as soloist. In 1975 they played Georg Philipp Telemann's viola concerto on Norwegian television under Aarsne's direction with the Dutch violist Rudolf Zwartjes (* 1934). On July 1, 1999, he was awarded the Kongens Fortjenstmedalje [Royal Medal of Merit].
