Asagaya

Asagaya ( Japanese 阿佐 谷 or 阿佐 ヶ 谷 ) is a district of the Suginami district of the Japanese prefecture of Tokyo . It is located in western Tokyo, west of Shinjuku . The main connection to Asagaya is the Chūō-Sōbu Line , 12 minutes from Shinjuku Station .

Asagaya is divided into north ( 阿佐 谷 北 , Asagaya-Kita ) and south ( 阿佐 谷 南 , Asagaya-Minami ) by the Chūō-Sōbu lineage . The boundaries of the two areas are roughly the same as the village of Asagaya ( 阿佐 ヶ 谷 村 , - mura ) from the Edo period , which was then part of the city of Suginami until it was incorporated into the city ​​of Tokyo in 1932 . Asagaya can be reached by train , subway and bus.

Festivals

Asagaya has two big festivals each year: Tanabata during the first week of July and the Asagaya Jazz Festival on the last weekend of October.
