al-Sharīf ar-Radī

al-Sharīf ar-Radī ( Arabic الشريف الرضي, DMG aš-Šarīf ar-Raḍī  'the pleasant noble', Persian سید رضی Seyyed Razi ; actuallyمحمد بن الحسين بن موسى / Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusain b. Mūsā ; * around 970 in Baghdad ; † 1016 ), also known as Sharif Razi , was a Shiite theologian and poet. His father came from Kazim , the 7th Imam of the Shiites, and his mother from the 4th Imam Ali ibn Husain . The scholar and Quran commentator al-Sharif al-Murtadā is his older brother. He was one of Sheikh Mufid's students .

In Baghdad he held the function of chairman ( naqīb ) of the Alides .

Sharif Radhi wrote various works on Islam and the interpretation of the Koran . His most famous work is Nahj al-Balāgha , a compilation of sayings and sayings from Imam Ali .

He founded a school called Dar al-ʿIlm (دار العلم, literally "House of Science") in which he trained many students, some of whom later became scholars themselves.
