Ashot II (Kuropalat)

Aschot II. (* After 897 ; † 954 ) was from 941 to 954 Kuropalates of Kartli - Iberia (today's East Georgia ).

Life

Aschot was the second eldest son of King Adarnases IV. When Gurgen II. († 941) the Bagratid line of the Upper Tao died out, his lands were divided between the other Bagratid lines and the King of Abkhazia . The Upper Tao, Javakheti , Kola , Artani and Schawscheti received Ashot II. And around 952 who gave him Byzantine emperor , the Armenian neighboring territory Phasiane . Ashot II together with his brother David II donated the church in Opiza , where the two donors are shown in a relief.
