Ash Shaddadi (الشدادي asch-Schaddādī , DMG aš-Šaddādī ; also Al Shaddadah ) is a Syrian city in the governorate of al-Hasakah . It has about 15,000 inhabitants and is located on the Chabur River. In February 2013, militias from the al-Nusra Front capturedthe city. IS later heldthe city. On February 19, 2016, the city wascapturedby units of the Syrian Democratic Forces .
