The Ashi volcano ( Chinese 阿什 火山 , Pinyin Ashi huoshan or 卡尔达西 火山 , Ka'erdaxi huoshan ) is a volcano of the Ashikule volcanic group ( 阿什库勒 火山 群 , Ashikule huoshan qun ) in the western Kunlun Mountains . It is located in the region of Lake Aqqikkol Hu ( 阿 其 克库勒 湖 , Aqikekule Hu ) in the Ashikule Basin ( 阿什库勒 盆地 , Ashikule pendi ) about 120 km south of Hotan ( Hetian ) in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . The cinder cone has a height of 4868 m, but towers only about 100 m above the surrounding plateau. Its last outbreak was on May 27, 1951 .
