Ashim Ahluwalia
Ashim Ahluwalia ( Marathi अशीम अहलुवालीया ; * 1972 in Mumbai , Maharashtra ) is an Indian director and filmmaker.
Ahluwalia studied film in New York and founded Film Republic in 1999 to produce independent Indian films . His film John & Jane was shown in the Forum des Junge Films as part of the 2006 International Film Festival in Berlin .
Early life
Ashim Ahluwalia grew up in Bombay (India). He attended the city's Cathedral and John Connon School before going to Bard College near New York, where he graduated with a degree in film in 1995.
Career
Ahluwalia began his film career with a series of experimental films made between 1993 and 2002. His first work, The Dust (1993), was created by reworking his grandfather's home videos from the 1950s.
