Ashlee Aliyah Savona (born December 12, 1992 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is a Canadian soccer player of Italian - Guyanese origin.
Life
Savona was born in Mississauga to an Italo-Canadian and a Guyanese mother. She attended St. Martin Secondary School from 2002 to 2006 and the renowned Humber College in Toronto from autumn 2006 to spring 2009 . In the fall of 2010, she began studying economics at Northwestern State University of Louisiana .
Football career
society
Savona started her career in the youth of the Pickering Soccer Club. She then played at senior level for Ajax Storm at the age of only 15, followed by a move to Oakville Redgales a year later. After the 2007 season she left Oakville for the Dixie Soccer Club, where she played for the Dixie Blades in 2008 and for the Mississauga Gladiators in 2009. In the spring of 2010, she left Mississauga for St. Catharines , where she signed for the St. Catharines Jets Soccer Club. Since studying at Northwestern State University , she has played on their Lady Demons Women Soccer Team. In the semester break 2011 she ran for the Erin Mills Soccer Club and won the Ontario Cup with a 6-0 win in the final against Markham SC.
National team
Savona was first called up for Guyana in 2008 and made her debut at the Orange Classic in Florida. In October 2010 she was nominated for the Guyanese national soccer team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. She has played in nine FIFA A internationals and six FIFA U-20 internationals for Guyana so far.
Athletics career
Savona is also on the track and field team at Northwestern State University and has participated in several long-distance, indoor and stadium running competitions.
